Although much of his career in music has been spent behind the scenes – as producer, engineer, club manager, talent buyer, music publisher, author of books and liner notes – Jim has performed and recorded as an artist in his own right, as a duo with banjo-innovator Bill Keith, as a bandmember in various folk groups, and currently as the leader of THE IRREGULARS, a confederation of Nashville singer/songwriters and session players.
